“This is the worst day of my life,” Chaewon says. She plops her forehead down on the cafe table then angles her head to give Hyeju coochie eyes.
“The table is dirty,” Hyeju says, poking her forehead with the eraser end of a pencil. “Don’t do that.”
“I said, this is the worst day of my life.”
Hyeju fixes her with a look. “It’s literally just the first day of school. What did you even do?”
“So like, I met this really cute girl in one of my classes, right? She has blonde hair and a really cute mole near her cheek. And we were talking outside. And she was wearing this tank top and then I kept looking at her boobs.”
“And then...?”
“I kept looking at her boobs, Hyeju!” Chaewon hisses. “Her titties! Her milk ba—”
Hyeju stops angry-writing in her notebook to rub at her temples. “OK OK, shut up, I get it.” She looks like she’s been hit by forty migraines at once, which is, well, fair. Chaewon doesn’t blame her. “What’s wrong about that?”
“That’s harassment.”
Hyeju rolls her eyes. “It's not. It happens. It’s fine. You won’t die.”
“She’s gonna hate me,” Chaewon says. She hasn’t bitten her nails in years but she feels like starting again. “That’s worse.”
“She’s not,” Hyeju reassures her. “You’re cute. You get a pass. Please don’t sulk anymore.”
Chaewon sulks until they leave.
